After 20-plus years in magazines, I was laid off and had to contemplate the question, "Should I make a career switch?" Despite my fears, I decided it was best to move on from the industry I knew so well. My journey lasted more than a year and during that time, I experienced plenty of highs and lows. Now that I'm in a new field, I want to give back with Career Switch Podcast.

Ep 60: You deserve to make a career change So many of us stay in jobs that feel “safe” with the steady paycheck, the benefits, and the routine. But deep down, we know something’s missing. In the season four finale, I sit down with Juliana Londoño, a licensed mental health therapist and entrepreneur, to talk about why deserving to make a career change is different from asking whether you can or should. In this episode, Juliana and I dissect the most common reasons people put off pursuing a career switch—from financial fears to family obligations. We share our own experiences of leaving secure jobs, talk through how to navigate tough conversations with loved ones, and lay out practical steps you can take to prepare for your own leap. We also dive into why self-worth and confidence are at the heart of believing you deserve to switch industries or professions. |

Ep 58: Making a career change your own (Hispanic Heritage Month)
Zayda Rivera is a Reiki Master who made her career change her own—by bringing together her Puerto Rican heritage and her teachings. In this episode celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, Zayda shares the calling she felt to take her career in a new direction after years of covering entertainment, politics, and breaking news as a professional writer. She opens up about the self-doubt she had about launching her spiritual business Mindful Living with Z (especially when her partner didn’t have her back), and how she grew her clientele by infusing Puerto Rican indigenous traditions into her Reiki practice. If you're second-guessing yourself about your career switch, Zayda's story can inspire you to take those first steps and believe in yourself along the way. |

Ep 57: Turning your hobby into your next career
When friends began offering to pay him for his photos, Anthony Randazzo started thinking his hobby could become more than just a creative outlet. In 2012, Anthony made the bold decision to leave behind his Wall Street law career after he realized it wasn't for him. Eventually, he made the switch from corporate attorney to professional photographer. In this throwback episode from Season 2, Anthony shares how he turned a hobby into a career, the doubts and resistance he faced along the way, and the practical lessons he learned about running his business, 1028 Photography.
